Too many veterans have to fight the system to get the compensation and financial support they deserve – often while battling physical or mental illness and injuries from service.
We call on the Government to remove unfair barriers to receiving compensation and benefits. They need to:
- Make sure veterans with chronic pain due to service receive compensation which accounts for the long term, debilitating impact on their lives. Right now they are being excluded.
- Stop including compensation as income when it comes to deciding on benefits for veterans. That's just not right. It should be compensation fair and square.
- End multiple assessments for amputees to qualify for benefits. Amputees often have to re-prove their entitlement every two years.
