Urge your MP to ensure that the next government maintains the Office for Veteran Affairs (OVA) as a Government Department separate from the Ministry of Defence with a minister who attends Cabinet meetings.
In 2019, Help for Heroes, along with other veterans’ charities, successfully campaigned for the creation of the OVA. Despite this the future of the OVA is not guaranteed, we need a firm commitment that any future government, of any political party, will maintain it and its independence.
Therefore, we must ask MPs to persuade their parties to make this an election commitment!
We’ve suggested some text you can use, but please, if you are able, do edit it to make it more personal – we know that MPs are more likely to take notice of personalised emails and queries, which are infinitely more powerful than standard letters.
If you receive a reply from your MP, please let us know by contacting our Senior Public Affairs and Policy Manager Ted Arnold at ted.arnold@helpforheroes.org.uk. This will help us gather intelligence for our campaigns.
